In order to simplify the data collection, data analysis and data presentation, as well as to reduce maintenance of the modules to the minimum, the following implementation scheme is foreseen:
  • One central data server running MS SQL Server, Oracle or other database system for data collection, processing and presentation is foreseen
  • One central web server, based on MS IIS, with support for MS .Net applications is foreseen
  • Client, MS Visual Basic based, software is provided for data collection and analysis, for offline data collection and for interfacing with other systems.
  • Replication mechanism for offline data collection is provided.
  • For Level 1 of data collection and analysis, web-based interface is available. MS Visual Basic interface for offline processing (i.e. on spot in the plant) is also available.
  • For Level 2 of data collection and analysis, web-based interface is available only for basic data input. MS Visual Basic interface for full data collection, calculations and analysis is available.
  • For Level 3 of data collection and analysis, no web-based interface is available. Full MS Visual Basic / Oracle interface is available for data collection and analysis.
  • Reports and other data presentation tasks will have web-based interface. Offline data presentation/browsing capabilities are also available.
  • This implementation architecture provides the following benefits
  • Data is stored at one place and available for everyone authorized trough web-based interface.
  • Data presentation and data collection is done trough web-based interface, which allows interaction with data without any client software, apart from standard web browser. This reduces the costs of software maintenance significantly, as well as the system requirements for client computers.
  • The maintenance and further development of this part of the system is done on Web-server only.
  • For data acquisition offline and data analysis, client software is provided. The number of installations to be maintained will be low, since client software installation is required only in some cases when advanced options of the system are needed (i.e. for offline data collection, level 2 and 3 data analysis, inspection planning, interface to other systems)
