News Photo

The ISCRAM conference will take place in Albi, France, on May 21-24, 2017. The ISCRAM conference aims at exploring all dimensions of Information System domain to improve and contribute to Crisis and Disaster Management.

 CALL FOR ABSTRACT

The ISCRAM conference will take place in Albi, France, on May 21-24, 2017. The ISCRAM conference aims at exploring all dimensions of Information System domain to improve and contribute to Crisis and Disaster Management.

The scope is by far incredibly wide, which makes one of the main attractive features of ISCRAM conference: “Information System” includes social, psychological, organizational, technological (and many others) aspects, while “Crisis and Disaster Management” refers to all kind of events that affects significantly human kind, from natural disasters to terrorist attacks via all types of accidents. Each and every article presented during ISCRAM conference must have one “Information System” component and one “Crisis and Disaster Management” component.

Topics of Interest

The theme of ISCRAM2017 is “Agility is coming”. There are several components in the concept of agility that are vital to crisis management:

  1. detection, i.e., the ability to diagnose the divergence between the actual and the expected situation,
  2. adaptation, i.e., the ability to define and implement a new strategy coherent with the diagnostics,
  3. reactivity, i.e., the ability to perform detection and adaptation fast enough to respond to the situation,
  4. effectiveness, i.e. the ability to ensure detection and adaptation in a pertinent and accurate way.

Moreover, agility is one of the key-features to improve crisis management and build a resilient society. We therefore encourage specifically submissions that reflect how information systems can contribute to more agile crisis and disaster response.

Any submission to the conference needs to be clearly positioned along each dimension of the following framework and use the according standards, methodologies and approaches. The scientific committee will select reviewers according to the positioning of the papers in the respective categories.

All Topics...

Besides, articles to be submitted to ISCRAM 2017 could concern the following topics:

  • Case studies and reflections from practice
  • Crisis research methods and modeling approaches
  • Collaborative and intelligent systems
  • Command and Control
  • Crisis planning, training, exercising, and gaming
  • Data fusion, representation, and visualization

  • About SAF€RA:

SAF€RA originated as an ERA-NET project entitled 'Coordination of European Research on Industrial Safety towards Smart and Sustainable Growth' that was funded for three years by the European Commission in the 7th Framework Programme (Grant agreement no: 291812). Under the ERA-NET scheme it identified areas of joint interest and expected synergies of collaborative research, and stimulated transnational research on industrial safety.

SAF€RA brings dynamism into European research on industrial safety where it cannot be tackled at the national level. SAF€RA will continue in context of the European Technology Platform on Industrial Safety, ETPIS, which initiated the original SAF€RA project.

Industrial Workshop on Safe-by-Design
News Photo Several H2020 projects organizes a workshop on Safe-by-Design on April 24-25, 2017 in Bilbao (Spain)

Industrial Workshop on Safe-by-Design

Several H2020 Safe-by-Design projects organizes a workshop that allows knowledge exchange between various SbD projects as well as listening and learning from different stakeholder groups (industry, academia, regulators, insurance, consumers).

A number of H2020 funded projects are working on various aspects of the Safe-by-Design (SbD) concept and all rely upon industry to understand its meaning and how to use the tools being developed in these projects. Disseminating this knowledge to a wider audience will help in the acceptance and uptake of SbD by companies and will also allow the projects to learn more about stakeholder needs.

A workshop that allows knowledge exchange between various SbD projects as well as listening and learning from different stakeholder groups (industry, academia, regulators, insurance, consumers) can help adjusting research, dissemination and exploitation strategies accordingly. This ensures project outcomes and tools are relevant long after the project has officially concluded.

Workshop Objectives

  1. Introduction of the Safe-By Design concepts to a wider audience
  2. Development of new relationships between the Horizon 2020 projects involved in Safe-By-Design and industrial stakeholders
  3. Bringing together industrial companies who can benefit from the use of Safe-By-Design

The workshop will start on April 24, at 12:00 p.m. and will end on April 25, at 13:00 p.m.
Participation is limited. Please notice that via your application you only confirm your interest in attending the workshop. You will be contacted by the organisers for further information.
