The European Technical School on Hydrogen and Fuel Cells 2015 is funded by the European Commission under the H2FC project and coordinated by the University of Ulster. The 2015 Technical School will be held at Aquis the Arina Sand hotel in Heraklion, Crete (Greece) on 22-26 June, 2014.

The sessions at the European Technical School on Hydrogen and Fuel Cells 2015 address the themes of hydrogen safety, storage and fuel cells. The programme will include topical lectures, a workshop on instrumentation and transnational access, presentations on state-of-the-art research and discussions on modelling for hydrogen safety, storage and fuel cells.

The 2nd European Symposium on Fire Safety Science will take place on June 16-18, 2014, in Cyprus.

The 2nd European Symposium on Fire Safety Science aims to bring together young and experienced researchers from Europe and beyond in 5 interesting topics. The Symposium will be revolved around 5 themes, with the following keynote lectures:

  • Fire Hazards with New Energy Carriers – Guy Marlair (INERIS)
  • Fire Suppression in Large Facilities – Bert Yu (FM Global)
  • Probabilistic Structural Fire Engineering – Luke Bisby (The University of Edinburgh)
  • Forest Fire Research – Domingos Viegas (Coímbra)
  • Fire Research for the Fire Service – Stefan Svensson (Lund University)

Five half-day sessions will be organized, one in each of the above mentioned themes. Each session starts with a keynote lecture, followed by a poster session and finalized with a workshop with summarizing discussions. The conference language is English.

Call for papers

Practitioners, Researchers and Policy Makers are invited to submit papers related to one of the following themes:

  • Fire Hazards with New Energy Carriers

The SUN-SNO-GUIDENANO Sustainable Nanotechnology Conference 2015 is a forum for nanotechnology researchers, industry, and regulators to present and discuss research findings on the interface between nanotechnology and sustainability.

Our view of sustainability includes not only its environmental dimensions, but also the societal and economic ones. The conference program will address the critical aspects of sustainable nanotechnology such as life cycle thinking; environmental release and fate of engineered nanomaterials (ENMs) ; environmental, occupational and consumer exposure to ENMs; environmental and human health impacts of ENMs; safe production, handling and disposal of ENMs; regulatory and industrial decision support for sustainable nanotechnology; nanotechnology applications for sustainability; societal implications of nanotechnology; curriculum and training for sustainable nanotechnology.

The conference will be held from 9-11 March 2015 in Venice, Italy. It is being jointly organized by the Sustainable Nanotechnology Organization (SNO), a USA based non-profit organization dedicated to advancing sustainable nanotechnology, and two large EU FP7 nanosafety projects SUN and GUIDENANO. Perspectives on the implications and applications of nanotechnology will be provided by leading experts in EU and USA. We also hope to foster new multi-sector collaborations in nanotechnology.
