CRITIS - Call for papers
October 13, 2014
The 9th International Conference on Critical Information Infrastructures Security will take place on October 13-15 , 2014, Limassol, Cyprus.

 CRITIS2014

The 9th International Conference on Critical Information Infrastructures Security will take place on October 13-15 , 2014, Limassol, Cyprus.

Modern society relies on the availability and smooth operation of a variety of complex engineering systems. These systems are termed Critical Infrastructure Systems (CIS). Some of the most prominent examples of critical infrastructure systems are electric power systems, telecommunication networks, water distribution systems, transportation systems, wastewater and sanitation systems, financial and banking systems, food production and distribution, and oil/natural gas pipelines. Our everyday life and well-being depend heavily on the reliable operation and efficient management of these critical infrastructures. The citizens expect that critical infrastructure systems will always be available and that, at the same time, they will be managed efficiently (i.e., they will have a low cost). Experience has shown that this is most often true. Nevertheless, critical infrastructure systems fail occasionally. Their failure may be due to natural disasters (e.g., earthquakes and floods), accidental failures (e.g., equipment failures, software bugs, and human errors), or malicious attacks (either direct or remote). When critical infrastructures fail, the consequences are tremendous. These consequences may be classified into societal, health, and economic.

On behalf of the Steering Committee and the Local Organizing Committee we invite you to submit papers and attend the CRITIS 2014 conference. CRITIS 2014 continues a well-established tradition of successful annual conferences. It aims at bringing together researchers and professionals from academia, industry and governmental organizations working in the field of the security of critical infrastructure systems.

Important dates
Deadline for invited session proposals: April 22, 2014
Deadline for submission of papers: May 30, 2014
Notification to authors: July 1, 2014
Camera-ready papers: July 30, 2014

Submission

The manuscripts should be submitted in PDF format and they should follow the Springer-Verlag Lecture Notes in Computer Science template. Papers should be no longer than 12 pages in English, including bibliography and well-marked appendices.
Paper submission will be done via EasyChair.
To submit your paper use the following link: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=critis2014
The submitted paper (in PDF or PostScript format) should follow the respective template offered by Springer: Template in LaTeX (sample file) and Template in Word 2007 or Word 2003

New calls for innovation: KIC InnoEnergy

KIC InnoEnergy has published on July 15 2014 its latest call for innovation proposals. The KIC is looking for business ideas linked to sustainable and renewable energy.

The KIC will support proven concepts that have the possibility to commercialize but have difficulties gaining business and financial support. KIC InnoEnergy supports research institutions, companies and universities at the last stage of the ‘valley of death’ and assists in the development of public private consortia that have the ability to take high potential ideas to the market faster and more effectively.
If successful, beneficiaries will have access to vital KIC InnoEnergy funding, a business-orientated framework for open innovation and a flexible management programme. Assistance regarding IP will also be available, as will an accelerated ‘go-to-market’ scheme.
KIC InnoEnergy is funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology along with 27 shareholders. Proposals must be submitted by the end of November 2014. Registration is available here.

EU Governance Models on Smart Grid Security
May 22, 2014
ENISA is taking stock of the EU28 Member States' governance models and national requirements on smart grid security through the survey.

EU Governance Models on Smart Grid Security

ENISA is taking stock of the EU28 Member States' governance models and national requirements on smart grid security through the survey

The EU Commission has recognised that smart grids, the blending of the energy (power) and telecommunication critical infrastructures, should operate securely and by respecting end users' privacy. Member States should ensure that smart grid providers have taken all the appropriate organisational and technical measures in order to face the risk factors posed to their assets. One can easily assume that a unified and common approach across Member States is needed when addressing the security measures needed to face the smart gird cyber security relevant threats.

One of the key success factor towards an effective national policy on smart grid cyber security, is a sound governance framework. ENISA is taking stock of the EU28 Member States' governance models and national requirements on smart grid security through the survey included in this message, we are kindly asking you to fill out. Then ENISA will issue good practices and recommendation to improve the governance models at national level and draw conclusions at EU level.

You can fill out the survey (it takes less than 5 minutes) online in the next link (password requested: ENISAsg1): https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/5G8GPHY.
